Toyota SEG AE111 Blacktop 20v + E-manage Tuning #2

Hi, another 20V Blacktop + E-manage tuning

Engine is stock Blacktop 20V except for HKS 4-2-1 extractor. Rear muffler is stock Levin 20V dual muffler,so its quite restrictive.

The STOCK base reading is on the BLUE curve, the TUNED reading is the RED curve.

Spend almost an hour extracting as much power from the stock ecu,but truely, stock Toyota ecu is very good in keeping their tune the way it is,the is a point where what ever changes made will not yield any significant result. So best today is 127.8 WHP,but with a flat torque curve. This is good for townriding as the owner intention.

He did ask to tune on the cruising mode for more fuel economy, but there is no point tuning the engine in cruise mode bacause the AFR will be always in closed loop feedback, and as Toyota being so superb in keeping their closed loop AFR in control, any changes made will be useless, the ecu will always learns back and keep the AFR within 14.5-15 on cruising. Further more, changes in cruising will cause the Long Term Fuel Trim to be affected and being applied to the overall fuel calculations the next time owner drive his car, and the e-manage tuning will be masked by this, leaving the e-manage tuning 'useless'.

Piggyback have its limit and best for Toyota engine is still Stand alone, unless some company manage to hack the stock ecu and do a re-flash.

  1. Hey Rahmat, Prem here. Actually it might be possible to tune the 20v in closed loop mode by using the GReddy O2 sensor adapter (Part #: 15900908). Have you tried this yet?
