JZX90 Auto To Manual Conversion

Here is some details on the transmission tunnel for those who like to get on the Auto to Manual conversion on a JZX90/GX90

This is the R154 gearbox on the stock GX90 auto chassis. Look at the rubber boot and gear lever hitting the chassis. The gearbox mount is far away to be bolted to the chassis.

Some measurements are made and chassis are cut.At this point the front shifter linkage still stuck under the tunnel, hencc the gearbox mount could not be bolted.

A further measurements and cuts are made to clear the shifter linkage. Now it is clear and gearbox mount could be bolted down.

To cover up the gaping hole,a piece of Manual JZX90 chassis tunnel is cut and welded to the Auto chassis, now the gear lever gaiter can be fitted on to the new tunnel.

Project JZX90 started!

The R.N.R Autosport JZX90 conversion project have started,it is on its way to finish now.

Engine dismantling process, out goes the good old 1G-FE with 4 Speed Auto box

Dashboard change If you guys notice on the transmission tunnel there is a black plate on top of it. This is becasue the GX90 Auto chassis is different from manual chassis, hence to fit the bulky R154 gearbox, i need to cut the tunnel to clear the gearbox and weld a piece of transmission tunnel from the JZX90 halfcut. Will show the details later on this part.

The 1JZGTE twin turbo engine, all things are stock,so i'm not expecting much kick in the butt..

AE92 + 4AG 20V Blacktop Wiring Conversion

Another project of marrying both stock wiring (AE92 with 2E carburetor) with 4AGE 20V Blacktop engine from AE111 Levin. The owner of this car does not want to install full AE111 4AG 20v wire harness (engine bay+instrument panel) because to retain the stock look of his car interior. Installing the full harness (engine bay+instrument panel harness) from the halfcut will make it more diffcult to graft into the stock wiring without mounting the AE111 dashboard,and mounting the dashboard will make the car look awkward. So the owner choose to leave the dashboard stock.

The stock 2E engine harness being stripped and separated, taking only necessary wires to be used onto the 20v engine.

4AG 20V wiring being stripped and labelled, what is not used is being cut and removed.

ECU during test start up,will be mounted under the dashboard.

Engine installed in the car and up and running. The wiring harness look totally stock factory item.

AE92 2ZZ-GE Wiring Grafting Finished

The 2ZZ-GE project have been idle for a very long time,so now it gets going again, the wiring harness grafting between stock AE92 4AG 16V TVIS model and the 2ZZ-GE wiring have been completed and the car is up and running.

During the grafting process,or some people call 'marrying process'

Here is the finished wiring harness, where the 2ZZ-GE engine wiring and AE92 accesories wiring combined.ECU is placed in the engine bay same as the original ZZT 231 Celica's location.

The task is to inspect, repair and rewrap the whole wiring. It's been in a pretty bad state as it is more than 15 years old.

The wiring taken out

The charging wire, badly corroded and melted insulation

Repaired

The injector wires is loosely connected and nearly break

Repaired

The finished reconditioned wiring, all wires are inspected and any neccessary replacement have been made.
