Another Haltech project at R.N.R Autosport, ecu of choice is the Platinum Sprint 500.
The car: A Perodua Kancil with 1000cc 3 cylinder turbo engine or so called Daihatsu EFRL.This engine runs on direct fire coil on plug ignition and multipoint injection from factory. The goal is to use all stock hardware and running on sequential injection and direct fire with the Haltech. In order to do so,a custom made trigger wheel is bolted on the crank pulley to provide additional info for the Haltech ecu to correctly run sequential injection. This need to be done as the Haltech cannot read the stock Daihatsu trigger pattern. It is ok if it is distributored but for us to run direct fire,a trigger and home signal must be present. In this case the trigger is at the crank and home is on the cam.
The ecu package.
Above is the Sprint500 wiring harness and below is the stock Daihatsu EFRL engine harness.
The almost finished wiring harness for the Haltech.
Another view on the harness before installation into the car.
This is the custom made trigger wheel mounted on the stock crank pulley and the 1JZ crank angle sensor. The Haltech can'read the stock Daihatsu trigger so we need to have this trigger wheel in order for the Haltech to run on sequential injection and direct fire. The stock Daihatsu trigger on the cam is modified to provide a home signal for no.1 cylinder i.d.
Here is the wiring installed, the injector connector still not yet connected.
Another view on the harness.
The car is done and engine is running well,it starts everytime and now it is up to the owner to tune his little monster.
* 1 Sept 2012: I have read in the Haltech forums that they now have supported the Daihatsu EF-RL stock trigger wheel,so this is good new for EF-RL owners out there.
