Altezza + 2JZ-FSE engine swap

This is my first time seeing this engine in an Altezza, perhaps maybe this is the first 2JZ-FSE transplanted in an Altezza in Malaysia. 2JZ-FSE is a 3 liter inline 6 with direct injection, which means the injector will inject fuel directly into the combustion chamber, which gives good fuel economy and less emission. This engine can run extremely lean Air fuel ratio.

.The engine swap and engine wiring was done at another shop but a few indicators on the instrument panel does not work, hence the owner asked me whether i could make it work, to be honest, i have no idea if it will work at all, as most of the info on the instrument panel is using Multiplex system. When we change the ecu, the system is interrupted, so now the speedo does not work,ABS light was on,Check engine light was on,fuel level indicator keep on blinking plus a few other things.

AE101 SEG 4AG Blacktop 20V + Microtech LT10S

New project already begun,a friend and regular customer at Garage Daz decided he needs something different than the ordinary for his 4AG Blacktop management systems, and suddenly he bought a used Microtech LT10S, and it is not even for 4AG model, it was on Nissan SR16 previously! And now it is my job to make it run on the 4AG 20V.

All Microtech ECU is engine specific, which means it is only can be used on the engine it was programed for. The crank trigger setting is not accessible for users to change, this restriction do have an advantage and disadvantage. The advantage is easier first time start up, which user or tuner doesn't have to spend his time find the correct ignition timing for the engine. All Microtech ECU will fire up at 1st crank on the engine its programmed for if all the wiring are done correctly. The disadvantage is,it is hardly transferable to any other engine. It is not universal like Haltech/Motec/Autronic..etc

So,can we make it run on other engine? Yes we could, the trick is to run all the sensors from that particular engine it is programmed for. In this case, we need to use all SR16 sensors on the 4AG engine. This will involve custom work to fit the sensors on the 4AG, most importantly is the Crank angle sensor (or usually called Trigger in engine management terms).

The owner opt for plug and play wiring to ease installation and reduce downtime, hence a used ecu connector is sourced to make the plug and play harness.

Connector to plug in on the stock 20V wiring loom was sourced from a burnt ECU.

Another view of the salvaged connector.

The LT10S wiring loom

The half finished plug and play loom, ready to be tested in the car.

The connector which will be plug onto the stock wire harness, the other end will be plugged to the Microtech. Shown here is the finished connection without the hot melt glue. The harness will be tested and will be hot glued later to make sure every pin does not move, this is to ensure reliability as it will vibrates when the car is moving.

The car now is waiting for internal surgery on the engine,so i guess i wont be updating this story real soon, but stay tuned for updates in a few weeks time.

Toyota SEG AE111+ Blacktop 20V + E-manage Tuning

A Toyotarian contacted me whether i could do him a tune and i was happy to help. He drove an AE111 Corolla SEG with 4AGE Blacktop 20V swap + a few performance parts and using Greddy E-manage for his fuel and ignition management.

The engine bay

 On the dyno

The HP vs Torque curve plot, the red curve is the previous tune(base run),the blue curve is after tuning, you can see there is an increase about 5hp almost everywhere from the previous tune and a huge increase in HP and torque at the top end after 7500rpm,max rev is about 9000rpm. Max power was increased from 125hp to 135 hp.

The previous tune was so lean and the ignition was so retarded on the top end that the dyno operator did'nt dare to carry on the dyno pull (that is why the red curve ends early than the blue), a test drive later confirms by the owner that the car is performed better than previous tune. Hope he enjoys driving the car now :-)

Project GX81 Mark2 + 1JZ GTE VVT-i update.

Project GX81 already completed, car is up and running. Here is some photo of the car.

Garage Daz chief mech doing some checking.

I dont know what type of bodykit the owner fitted to his car but it looks great.

1JZ GTE VVT-i ...truely high speed machine..great torque, good fuel economy..one of the best of inline 6

Silvertop to Blacktop Conversion #18

Another Silvertop to Blacktop wiring conversion done on a Toyota LE,again the owner having problems with the ECU and Airflow meter which he keep replacing it,frustrated he send the car to my friend Garage Daz and the conversion done in 2 days.It only takes a day actually if on weekends since on weekends i have limited time.

Hope the owner happy with the new ECU and trouble free performance. No photos on this post, again forgot to bring digicam.
